look for peace

disaster, drastic upheaval, deep loss

dreadful suffering

on other sentient beings

the ego needs

problems, conflict, and “enemies”

the world’s suffering is

a bottomless pit

mental commentary running:

unease, worry, anxiety,

nervousness, tension, dread,

phobia and so on

[o]thers may be much harder

to label

psychological time

a mental disease

misidentification with mind

habit to monitor

[p]resence is the key to freedom

become you

bring more consciousness into your life

love, joy and peace

energy field of your body

rooted within yourself

joy arises from within

deep states of Being

this is inner peace

This piece is composed solely out of phrases taken randomly from Eckhart Tolle’s (1999) “The Power of Now”; any additions of mine are in square brackets.

I received this gem of a book in 2014, as a gift from a sister-friend. The book is a wonderful reminder of the importance of present moment awareness, because all that we ever truly have is the eternal now and now and now and now and now….

If your quest is for inner peace, as well as freedom from angst and other kinds of psychological pain, then, read this book for sure. You can also follow it up with “A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose”, which is another great read from Tolle (2005).
